Retire — CentOS 8 is EOL and this guide installs Drupal 8, which is also EOL. The installation workflow uses outdated LAMP stack practices and a deprecated tarball based installation method rather than the modern Composer based approach required for Drupal 10/11. It also depends on other obsolete CentOS 8 guides (LAMP, MariaDB, Drush). Replacement content is needed for Rocky Linux 9 or AlmaLinux 9 using Composer based installation and updated PHP/database versions.
Related work: PR #7334 updates OS installation content. While it does not replace this guide, it may serve as a model for future modernization efforts.
